About
Hounslow Council's free pop-up tip comes to Edensor Gardens from 11am to 3pm, taking up to six items per household, with each bag or item counting as one. It accepts furniture, mattresses (up to 180cm wide and 45kg), small electricals, textiles, general waste, small batteries and old tools, but not cardboard, paint, rubble, oil or hazardous waste. Anything reusable goes to Collect4Reuse and the Richmond Furniture Scheme. The same day, the Chiswick Repair Café runs at Dukes Meadows Community Centre, W4 2RZ, from 12pm to 2pm: walk in with one item per category (small electricals, bikes, textiles, digital devices). Every household also now gets one free bulky-waste collection a year, booked on 020 8583 5555.
Inside Chiswick's take
The broken lamp, the dead printer and the chair nobody sits on can all leave the house on the same Saturday. Six items per household is the rule, so choose wisely, and take the wobbly bike along to the Repair Café while you are at it.
