About
St Michael and All Angels' annual Remembrance exhibition is open free every day from 9am until Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November. This year it focuses on 1916, remembering local men who died at the Somme and in other battles, and tells the stories of Bedford Park's war artists: James Clark, painter of The Great Sacrifice, his son Cosmo Clark, Cecil Aldin and George Derville Rowlandson, several of whom lost sons in the war. On display are twenty illustrated panels made by the late David Beresford, the church archivist who led the St Michael and All Angels World War 1 Project researching the 128 names on the church's war memorials; eight of the panels are about the Somme. All are welcome, including school parties and history groups.
Inside Chiswick's take
Bedford Park's own painters, and the sons they lost, told in twenty panels a minute from Turnham Green. Open from 9am every day until Armistice Day, so there is no excuse not to pop in on the way to the shops.
